All cribs, bassinets, and Pack-n-Plays must be fully assembled or set up. These items will not be accepted for sale unless they are put together so buyers can see all the parts and check the condition.

HELPFUL TIPS FOR CONSIGNORS

TO HELP YOU MAKE THE MOST MONEY AND HAVE THE BEST EXPERIENCE!

1. Enter and tag your big-ticket items first! This ensures you don’t run out of time. These are the items that will make you the most money.
2. Group cheaper items together so shoppers feel like they’re getting a great bargain. (Example: Bundle several onesies and sell them for one price.)
3. We strongly encourage you to mark your items “Discount: YES” for Half-Price Day. It’s a great way to boost your sales on one of our busiest days — shoppers love half-price bargains!
4. Presentation is everything. Make sure your clothes are washed, wrinkle-free, and hung properly. Button all buttons so each item looks its best.
5. Make sure baby equipment and toys are very clean!
6. Clothes with stains do not sell. Carefully check all clothing to ensure they’re in excellent condition, in-season, and stain-free.
7. A good rule to remember: If you wouldn’t buy it, don’t consign it!
8. Start entering items now — don’t wait until the last minute. Do a little each day!
9. Price competitively. You want your items to sell. Overpriced items don’t move.
10. Write a good description on your tag. That way, if a tag falls off, the item can still be found and sold through our computer system.
11. When dropping off, make sure your items are placed in the correct location and size. If someone is dropping off for you, please make sure they understand how important this is. Items in the wrong spot (especially clothes in the wrong size or gender) don’t sell.
12. Donate as many items as possible to help those in need. You may be able to deduct donations on your taxes!
13. If an item has already been through one sale and you’re bringing it back, lower the price significantly and double-check its condition. If you’re trying to sell something for a third time, it may be time to donate it.
14. To avoid your items ending up in our “No Tag” section, tag everything securely. Safety pins are great for this! Also make sure all pieces are extra well-attached to the main item–zipties and ziplock bags work well for this purpose.

A Note on Sorting…

Switch-a-Roos sorts a majority of unsold items to make pickup run smoothly!

However, due to the sheer volume of the following items, these items will not be sorted at the end of the sale* and will be donated after pickup has closed:

Socks • Belts • Hats • Onesies • Bows • Books • DVDs • Stuffed Animals • Household Items (Switch-A-Rooms)

*You have the option to look through and find your unsold items at pickup. Please check in with our event coordinator after collecting your items.

• All clothes 3T and bigger MUST be on an adult size hanger. This is to ensure that your items stay on the rack during the sale. Wire coated hangers work best. They are available at Walmart or online.

• We have called out the STAIN BUSTERS!! All items will go through a quality inspection. The items that do not meet Switch-A-Roos Standards will be noted and returned to you in an enclosed bag. We know that our consignors are busy people, so we will make the check-in process as smooth and efficient as possible.

Bring all your sporting equipment–we give them their own special section to make them easier for shoppers to find!

We accept men’s, women’s, and children’s gear for every sport. If you use it to play, you can consign it and make money! Examples include:

CRIBS & CAR SEATS

• We accept car seats! All car seats must have been manufactured within the last five (5) years from the date of the sale and meet current government standards.

• We only accept cribs manufactured after 2011. No drop-side cribs allowed!

 

STAND OUT ON THE RACK!

Want your items to stand out? Add a special touch to your tags or hangers!

• Put a colored sticker in the corner of your tag
• Highlight part of the tag (price, description, etc.)
• Add a colored sticker around the neck of the hanger…get creative!

Preparing your inventory…

To maintain high quality inventory for consignors and shoppers, we perform a 10-point inspection during check-in to ensure that items are not stained, torn, broken, missing pieces, etc.

We know you’re busy! To keep this process as smooth and quick as possible, please inspect your clothing carefully before consigning:
1. Overall condition: no fading, pilling
2. Clean, free of stains
3. Hem are intact
4. Pockets
5. Buttons attached well
6. Zippers function
7. Lining
8. Smell (no smoke or animal hair)
9. Seams
10. Barcode is clear and in correct location

Items that don’t meet our standards will be removed from the sale upon inspection and will be placed on a designated rack that will be available for you at pickup at the end of the sale. These items will be donated after pickup closes.

TOYS

Please make sure all toy pieces are securely fastened together and the toy is complete. Use packaging tape, Ziploc bags, clear containers, zip ties, etc.

We try to prevent kids from playing with the toys, but it still happens — pieces can get scattered. Please tape your tag securely to the item.
